HALF DISTANCE (L)

The Openlakes Half Distance will take place on Saturday 24 June 2023.

  • The start will be given at 11am from the banks of the beach of Nuisement at Lac du Der. (Attention change of location compared to 2019).
  • Half Distance athletes will have the possibility to leave their bikes and helmets in the bike park from Friday 23 September between 4pm and 8pm (not compulsory unlike Full Distance athletes but highly recommended). On the day of the race, the entry in the bike park will take place from 9 am to 10.30 am.
  • DISTANCES: 1900m – 94km – 21km
  • Minimum age: 18 years old during the current year (born in 2005 or before)
  • At the time of registration, non-licensed athletes will have to show an identity card and provide a medical certificate mentioning the aptitude to do a triathlon in competition. The medical certificate is valid for 6 months.

  • Licensed athletes will need to present their identity card and a valid licence from an international triathlon federation.

TIME LIMITS

  • Start at 11 am
  • Swim: 1:10
  • Swim + bike: 6:00
  • Swim + bike + run: 8:00
  • Race closes at 7 pm

  • The start of the race will be in a “Mass Start” format.

SWIMMING – 1900m

  • Departure from the banks of Nuisement at Lac du Der.
  • One lap of 1900m.
  • Wetsuit allowed if the temperature is below 23° and is mandatory below 16°.
  • Maximum time is 1:10.
  • Warm-up in the water is allowed maximum 30′ before the start, in the dedicated area only (outside the start area). All athletes must be out of the water 10′ before the start.

Bike – 94km

  • NON-DRAFTING event.
  • 2 laps of 47km around the Lac du Der.
  • Flat course without relief with a maximum of 90m of positive difference in altitude per lap.
  • Cycling route closed to traffic.
  • 2 supplies / loop.
  • The maximum time is 6:00 (Swimming + cycling).
  • Bike park closed at 5:00 p.m.

Running – 21km

  • 3 laps of 7km largely along the Lac du Der.
  • Course including 20m of elevation gain per loop.
  • Course composed of 95% bitumen and 5% path.
  • 3 supplies / turn.
  • The maximum time is 8:00 (Swimming + cycling + running).
  • Closing of the race at 7:00 p.m.

HALF DISTANCE RELAY

The OPENLAKES HALF distance in “relay” will take place on Saturday 24 June 2023.

The start will be given at 11:00 am (at the same time as the half solo) from the banks of the Nuisement, at the Lac du Der.

RELAY PRINCIPLE

  • The Relay team is made up of two or three athletes.
  • During the relay race each athlete of the team must achieve at least one complete discipline: Swimming, Cycling, or Running.
  • In the case of a team of two athletes, an athlete of the team must therefore complete two disciplines completely.
  • IMPORTANT: Athletes registered for the FULL RELAY distance will be required to deposit their bicycle and helmet in the transition park the day before the event.

DISTANCES: 1900m – 94km – 21km

  • Minimum age: Be 18 years old during the current year (be born in 2005 or before).
  • The 3 team members MUST present themselves to the secretariat for the withdrawal of bibs.
  • When collecting a bib, unlicensed athletes must show their identity card and provide a medical certificate stating the ability to perform a triathlon in competition. The medical certificate is valid for 6 months.
  • Licensed athletes must present a valid license belonging to an international triathlon federation.

RELAY IN PRACTICE:

  • The “relay” MUST take place IN the transition park at the location allocated for the team.
  • Only teammates passing the “relay” are allowed to be in the transition zone.
  • The electronic chip acts as a “relay” and must be placed consecutively on the LEFT pin of each torchbearer.
